Going through a divorce with dependent children is among the most difficult and challenging aspects for couples ending their marriage. Custody, visitation and child support are the major elements that need to be determined for each child.

In Kansas and Missouri family law judges prefer that parents come to an agreed upon parenting plan over seeking court intervention and custody judgments. A court can override a parenting plan if it feels the plan does not serve the best interests of the child.
